A terrifying fleet of Vladimir Putin's soldiers ski through thick mountain snow armed with machine guns.

Footage of the soldiers shows them firing rocket launchers from snowmobiles in sub-zero conditions during training in the Republic of Tyva, in southern Russia.

The men are filmed skiing through the mountain terrain in white camouflage suits that make them look like just like the Stormtroopers in Star Wars.

NATO is pressuring allies, including the USA and Britain, to contribute to a military presence as the alliance prepares for a disagreement with Russia. Tensions have been rising between the USA and Britain and Russia, as the countries continue to disagree over how to approach airstrikes in war-torn Syria.

Today Putin announced the Russian military should use its combat experience in Syria to further modernise its arsenals.

Speaking with senior military and security officers at the Kremlin the Russian president said the Syrian campaign has proven the military's strength.

He urged the top brass to rely on the Syrian experience to 'equip the Army and the Navy with prospective weapons.'
