President Vladimir Putin says Russia has tested an array of new "invincible" nuclear weapons that are “invulnerable to enemy interception"
Speaking about the future of Russian military power, Putin warned America that his country would not be "contained by warmongers".
He revealed footage of long range intercontinental ballistic missiles he claimed could reach "anywhere in the world".
The president also warned that the weapon could be potentially undetectable to the anti-missile systems used by the American military.
Putin also sent a direct warning to the USA, who last year loosened it's guidelines for the use of nukes on the battlefield.
He said: "We will consider any use of nuclear weapons against Russia or her allies as a nuclear attack on our country. Response will be instantaneous with all ensuing consequences."

Using grand video presentations, the Russian autocrat claimed the Russian military had developed an underwater drone, capable of delivering smaller nuclear warheads to naval battles.
His speech purposefully raised the stakes in ongoing global nuclear tensions.
He said: "Nobody wanted to talk to us. Now listen to us.
"Containment of Russia didn’t succeed. It's time to recognize that reality. This isn't a bluff."
"We've done a lot to strengthen our army and navy and they are equipped with modern weaponry."
"We've adopted 300 new models of weaponry providing our armed forces with 18 new ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles), two submarine-based ballistic missiles, we've commissioned three new nuclear submarines and ... We've increased the number of high-precision long-range missiles."

Putin's speech comes on the same day that a top British Army official warned that more cash was needed to deal with an expansionist Russia.
In an interview with the Times, General Sir Gordon Messenger also warned that there are capabilities being produced by countries which could harm the UK.
"We should be making the case for a bigger defence budget in order to respond to those types of threats that are changing all of the time," he added.

Gen Messenger warned how more cash was needed to match the expanding capabilities and weapons being developed by states such as Vladimir Putin's Russia.
Putin's speech, which comes 17 days ahead of Russian elections, said Russia was strengthening its military position around the world.

He said that Russia's operations in Syria - supporting the Assad government's fight against rebels - showed the country's increased defence capabilities.
And promised to build a bridge to the Crimean peninsula within the next couple of months.
Crimea, which is part of Ukraine, was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014.

Putin said that American containment of Russia had failed and that they should 'retire the warmongers' 
The speech also saw Putin comment on a range of domestic Russian issues - including more funding for research into artificial intelligence and a commitment to reduce poverty.
He said: "Russia is now a leading country with a powerful foreign economic and defence potential.
But from the point of view of the extremely important task of ensuring people's quality of life and welfare we, of course, have not achieved the level we require. But we have to do this and will do this."
